Specialist distributor Switchtec has announced it is now supplying Telergon’s ZBK range of IP66 switch disconnectors.  These rugged disconnectors are used as the main on-off switch or isolating switch for general isolating duties or as emergency padlockable on/off switches within the contractor and control industries.

In a move that more than doubles its warehouse size, specialist distributor of electrical and electronic products Switchtec has expanded its Stone, midlands based facility.  The recently completed extension enables Switchtec to greatly increase its stocking levels, making it even more responsive to customer needs.

As sole distributor, Switchtec has introduced the Arnocanali range of distribution blocks. Used to distribute incoming power to smaller or numerous cables within panels, the distribution blocks reduce installation time and keep cable usage to a minimum, providing time and cost savings over traditional methods.

Telergon’s S6000N DC switch disconnector from distributor Switchtec has been introduced to meet the demand for this type of product as a result of the increased usage of 1500VDC generation in photovoltaic (PV) utility scale systems.  Using 1500VDC rather than lower voltages enables the PV Installer to save costs as higher-voltage systems enable longer strings, which means fewer combiner boxes, less wiring and trenching, and therefore less labour too.

Previous light towers had a wiring base and modules that were all voltage specific, requiring each separate component to be stocked in 24, 110 and 230V versions across all five colours as applicable. With the new Elyps range there is only one module per colour as the voltage is selected solely by the choice of base. This keeps module types and stocking levels down, and accordingly price too.

Aimed at electrical contractors, panel builders, equipment manufacturers, machine builders and generator set manufacturers, the switch disconnectors provide a solution where general switching duties are required. They are suitable for control switches for multiple circuits and for use in main circuits as load switches for motors, machines, heating equipment, lighting, ventilation, air-conditioning, generator sets and mains/generator change over duties.

Available from Switchtec, the SCL range of pilot lamps is available in the ubiquitous 16 and 22mm diameters for panel use. Uniquely, the LED lamps have coloured terminals on the underside that are ‘coded’ to match the colour of the LED lamp on the ‘outside’. Imagine a door or control panel with say 100 pilot lamps on it, now imagine trying to work out which lamp’s terminals you are working on? The colour-coded terminals are a great help, especially when there are a large number of lamps on the panel.
